today, whenever I talk to someone, they say I am breaking up and they cannot understand me. It worked pretty well up til now. I can hear them fine. I have Verizon FIOS, linksys phone adapter, NetGear 5 port switch GS605 which goes down to my phone box (I don't know what that is), Uniden TRU9485-2S.

My download speed is 901 kbps
My upload speed is 619 kbps
My Quality of Service is 27%
My connections jitter is 107.6 ms
My packet loss is 0.0%

What do I do?

I have the same problem and noticed that it was worse the longer that the phones have been off of their chargers. Unfortunately, it's so bad now that I could pick up a fully charged phone and the other person can't hear me at all. I'm looking for a new phone to see if that fixes it. Any suggestions?

apple17...I would start by examining your internet connection. Whether it is your internet connection or one of the hardware components such as an ActionTec Router from Verizon or the Linksys Vonage adapter, something is killing your bandwidth and QOS.

I don't have FIOS but have a 30Mb / 5Mb. Your FIOS should be at least 20Mb down and 2Mb up minimum but it's not. Your bandwidth is showing under 1Mb down and up and your QOS is extremely low.

My tests come in like this and yours should be close but aren't..

My download speed is 28832 kbps
My upload speed is 5209 kbps
My Quality of Service is 91%
My connections jitter is 98.2 ms
My packet loss is 0.0%


I would do a full network power cycle of all your hardware to see if you notice a change. If no change, connect your PC directly to the FIOS connection so that it is not behind the Linksys router and test again. If still slow, you need to contact Verizon as you have a serious internet problem.

You probably had great bandwidth before so QOS on your LAN wasn't mandatory. Now that your bandwidth is on the low side, your fighting against network traffic for voice quality.

There is something wrong with those kind of numbers for UP abnd Down speed. You need to troubleshoot your network connection first.

Try running the test plugged directly into the FIOS adapter and see if things improve. You either have connection issues to the ISP or some hardware/configuration trouble locally.
