I currently use Comcast cable for internet services. This month, Comcast offers DOCIS 3.0 speeds which requires a new cable modem. Also, Verizon is now offering FiOS in our neighborhood. Has anyone compared the two services especially when it is used with Vonage? I don't have many complaints about Vonage. The only time it doesn't work is also when my internet service is also not working. The Comcast upgrade is the easiest but I have heard that FiOS is more reliable. Any advice would be appreciated. |

For reliability, FIOS will be the winner. It has been mainstream now for a while and most of the kinks are worked out. It is also a bit more dedicated per user then a cable node network is.
With every new technology there will be issues. DOCSIS 3.0 is going to be using new hardware in the modems and well as within the Comcast infrastructure. Most cable providers will be using the Motorola SB6100 series modems for DOCSIS 3.0 and there have not been any tests using them with Vonage run that I am aware. There probably wont be many people who can even comment on it's performance since it is really not available to that many people. So I doubt you will find anyone in this forum that has DOCSIS 3.0, Comcast, and Vonage. |

Thank you for the great reply. You made up my mind. I just went online and ordered 20 Mbits up/down FiOS service. They'll install it in eight days.
I have three Vonage lines that have performed pretty good under Comcast.
I am expecting it to be better with FiOS. |
