PostPosted: Tue Dec 23, 2008 10:57 am    Post subject: How to connect Vonage with Reliance Broad band connection Reply with quote Back to top

Hi
I am in bangalore. Recently I took Reliance Broad Band internet connection. They gave me user id and password to access Internet.

I want to connect my Vonage motorola router with Reliance Broad band connection.

I tried many times to connect Vonage but am not able to.

I connected Reliance Modem-->Vonage Router--> PC.

When I connect my PC directly to reliance modem, i am getting internet after giving user id and password.
But when I connected Vonage Motorola router i am not getting the login page to provide User id and password.

Please let me know what are the setting to be done inroder to use Vonage with Reliance Broad Band connection.

Here are the things I checked.

DHCP is true
Modem connection type is in bridge mode.

I tried to change it to PPOE and provided the Authentication details. still am not able to browse.

your immediate response is highly appreciated.

thanks
Ravi

You will probably need to clone the MAC ID, which you can do easily from within the Vonage adapter.

please send me detail description how to clone MAC address inorder to set up my Vonage with reliance broad band internet connection.

When i connect reliance broad band modem to my pc am getting internet.

my settings are automatic ip settings. its dynamic ip not the static.

when i include Vonage VT24442 router in between modem and pc. am not getting internet and not opening the reliance login page as well.

I called to reliance customer care to make my connection as direct login instead of giving my authentication detailsfor browsing. but theydenied to do that.

please do the needful in providing your valuable inputs to reslve this.

If you're on a dynamic IP w/ a username and password, that sounds like a PPPoE connection.

Here's a link to your device's user guide which has instructions on how to set up your device for PPPoE:

Based on the above referenced thread, BSNL uses PPPoE. but reliance Remax uses DHCP, so here is the short story on this:

Steps

1.Note down the MAC ID of the PC START--> RUN---> CMD-----> IPCONFIG /ALL Note down the Physical address from the ethernet adapter local area connection something like: 00-0B-AA-EE-DD-88.

2.Enable DHCP on your computer and then connect reliance---VONAGE---PC

3. Switch on the Modem (Relaince)

4. Switch on the Vonage router . (wait for 2-3 minutes)

5.In the web browser, type http://192.168.15.1 and press ENTER.
In the Username and Password fields, type username and password. The HOME page is displayed.

6. Click SETUP followed by WAN Configuration. From the Type drop-down list, choose DHCP.

7. Check OVERIDE MAC and type in the MAC id of your pc (physical address) replace - with : 00:0B:AA:EE:DD:88

9.Click SAVE and then Connect to start your Internet connection.

.

HI

I tried to connect as suggested by you. But am not getting internet when i connect Modem -->Vonage --> PC.

also i didnt see the WAN setting in the Reliance Modem settings page.

let me know where i need to over write the MAC address.

everytime Reliance needs us to authenticate for browsing.

so i guess with out authentication it wont allow.

Please suggest alternate solution to conect the Vonage with reliance.
thanks

Have you consulted Reliance on this issue? You needn't tell them that you're trying to make Vonage work. Just ask them how to set up a router so that you can use multiple computers without each having to provide log-on credentials.

Connect as you had done, modem - - -Vonage Device- - -PC

go to your web browser on the PC and type http://192.168.15.1

This should take you to the sign on for the Vonage router.

Type in the user name and the password (varies, depending on which Vonage device you have.) The VT2442 has a default Sign on and PW of router for both.

Go to the setup tab on the lower left you will see"

DHCP Settings
IP Address: 75.186.xxx.xxx
Mask: 255.255.224.0
Gateway: 75.186.xxx.xxx
Override MAC: [ ]
MAC: _________________

Check the Override MAC box and enter the MAC address that you got from the PC in the earlier instructions.

This will make Reliance think that the Vonage device is your PC.

Reboot all (as in the earlier instructions) and see if you can sign on through your PC.

Hope this helps
