Post subject: Tax(es) on DSL Standalone same as standard POTS??
Comment(S) Welcome, appreciated & encouraged.....Is your DATA only line being taxed this way??? Write to somebody
Subject: 911/711/poison control tax(es) on DSL Standalone Lines??/My Complaint to Utah PSC
Qwest recently introduced a Standalone DSL line designed to transport data from homes to the internet. This line has no DIALTONE and is essentially a dedicated data line. Because it has no DIALTONE it does not allow (nor do i need) access to services such as deaf relay (711) or emergency services (911) or poison control, for this line.
However Qwest continues to bill for these "services" that really do not exist on this line.
--------------
I would suggest that these fees should not be assessed on data-only lines and that current regulations need to be reviewed and possibly updated as technology changes. In the past DSL was only avalable with a dialtone (not as a standalone service) This is no-longer the case. Qwest should stop billing for 911,711 (deaf relay) and poison control "Services" that are unavailable on this line, pending a review and possible revision of regulation(s) relating to DATA ONLY lines.Business customers do not pay for 911/711 poison control on DATA ONLY Lines....why should consumers??
