Beware Vonage users.....
When you try to cancel your account you will get some non-english speaking wench trying to talk you out of cancelling and even when you decline... they lie and leave you on their system and keep billing your visa.
I called customer assistance 3 times and each time was a waste of my time calling... still they kept charging my visa even though I had switched to MagicJack for $20 a year.
I ended up with one of Allah's angels named Mohhamed who refused to give my money back. He was a complete waste of skin as most people who bare that name are.
If you support Vonage .... plan on supporting them forever.
My advice.... screeeew Vonage and go with magicjack .....
Vonage is a group of crooks and I will blog on every site I can to make sure the public at large knows that Vonage is NOT a decent service and supports the enemy!
MagicJack.com is where you all need to go..... $20 makes Vonage look like the real crooks that they are!!! |

Which is fine, Magic Jack is a good product for what it is, but I'm not comfortable trusting it as my main form of communication. |

Just proceed with a chargeback to your credit card. Eventually they will get the message and will stop your service. |

Make sure that you are processing the chargeback within compliance of your credit card company's provisions. If the above individual did not properly terminate his service with Vonage, and Vonage provides sufficient proof to his credit card company, his credit card company may not only penalize him for improperly filing a chargeback, but may also terminate his credit card and send that information to other credit providers. This, in turn, could automatically trigger higher interest rates on other lines of credit that he may hold, or may cause other creditors to cancel his lines of credit.
That would be a pretty ugly end to a situation that started because one individual simply could not control his reaction to dealing with an offshore account representative. |

I sent Vonage a letter of notice, which they ignored. So, I proceeded with a charge back. My credit card rep was provided with full details. Eventually, Vonage figured out that they had to cancel my account and refund my cash.
Thing is, when I signed up, there was nothing in the agreement that stated that I had to contact them by telephone to cancel the contract. |

That very well may be, and they may have changed the Terms of Service. Most ToS agreements state that the terms can be changed at any time (which ****, but what else can you do?). It's usually a good idea to check those again before you cancel your service. |

Courts frown open contractual clauses that allow one party to unilaterally modify the provisions of any particular contract.
Most people are sheep and do what they are told to do, but not me. You shouldn't either. |

Some courts do frown on those, and some courts say that they are legally binding. The Supreme Court has not yet ruled either way, no case has ever reached that far.
I myself feel that such one-sided contracts are unfair to consumers, but there are many courts who have ruled that the consumer had full awareness of this when they went into the contract. |
