Hey guys I just wanted to chime in. We are aware of the issue. We are currently working on a new firmware to address the situation without having to short out ports or attach phones. I always make sure to address the issue if a customer calls in with this type of problem. We are not trying to hide anything and are always working to the best of our abilities to assist each customer on a per call basis. We hope to have this released in the near future until then I urge all customers to just be patient and use this work-around.

Thank You,

Stephen Santana

Worked like a champ here also Thumbs Up . I simply plugged in an old phone into the second telephone port on the linksys router and left the receiver off the hook. Made the hiss/white noise disappear (and my wife much happier Date )! Thanks ya'll.

Now if I can just get the delay figured out (running PingPlotter now).

I've had to redo some of my network infrastructure and as a result had to disconnect and reconnect the Linksys RT31P2 adapter.
I had been fat dumb and happy with the "dongle" in port 2 solution of the excessive noise problem.
Well after powering up the adapter the noise on port 1 was back with a vengance even with the dongle firmly in place on port 2.
Verified the dongle was still dongling and used an extension phone offhook on port 2 as well. Still massive noise on port 1.
Port 2 however seemed relatively quiet so I called Vonage Support and convinced them I just wanted to be moved to port 2. After some hemming and hawing she agreed after her supervisor gave her permission. (?)
So now I'm on port 2 with the dongle on port 1 (reduced the lessend noise even further).
Don't know what to do if port 2 starts acting up.
Swap adapter (again) or cancel service I guess.
Just an update.
J

Last week I was experiencing the return of a lesser hiss, even with a shorted modular plug or a off-hook telephone in port 2. I called Vonage, they issued me a RMA,sent the same type problematic RT31P2, credited my account $10 for return shipping, and sent me a cool Vonage branded baseball hat. I guess it was their way of saying, We know we sent you another defective Linksys unit to you, but we really do want to keep you as a valued customer". So, I feel pacified at the moment even having to still plug in a off-hook phone into port 2 to eleminate 95% of the noise. Cool

I tried the shorted phone line in port 2 and it worked like a champ. And yes, it did sound like the original Enterprise's phaser!

ssantana is correct, just got the 1.27.01 firmware and noise is gone. I did test uploading several pics etc and downloading from a few sites and router crashes while on the telephone. QOS set at 100 and I get 500 on the up as far as ISP goes. Are you working on this issue too???

grrrrrr.....................
