I bought a new Vonage adaptor and now I am thinking of using that in India. It already has a US number associated with it. Is there anything else I need to do before I take it to India ? Any kind of activation ? Also once I take it to India other than the modem-phone-adaptor connections, is there anything else that needs to be done?
Please let me know in case anyone knows..
Thanks! |

Do a search on this forum for India and the service provider (such as BSNL.)
You will see a lot of threads regarding the various internet providers in India and hooking up Vonage.
BSNL seems to be the easiest to use, though it IS DSL, and requires you to connect via PPPoE. BSNL records the MAC address of the computer or router that the DSL router is connected to, and will not connect to another device. If a computer is connected to the DSL Modem, you will need to clone that MAC adress to the Vonage device and then plug the computer into the Vonage device. You will also need to change the connection to PPPoE and enter the signon and password on the Vonage device. If you are already using your own router, (after the DSL router) all you need to do is plug in to that. Presumably, the PPPoE settings have already been entered in your router. If not, enter the PPPoE information same as described above. |
