My regular setup used to be Toshiba PCX2500 modem->Netgear RP614v2 router->Motorola VT1005V Vonage box and a desktop. The motorola is connected to 2 phones, which are wireless.
I got a laptop for school, and since the old router was only wired, I got a Netgear WGR614 wireless router. I unplugged and replugged everything according to the setup guide that came with the netgear and setup the accont/password.
The desktop and laptop internet works fine, however, the two phones are not getting connection. The router has everything green, but the Motorola has both green and yellow lighted at the ethernet cable.
Can anybody help out how I can get the phones to get connection? |

I assume that if you disconnect the new Netgear and simply plug the Vonage box into the modem, it works all right. Is that correct? Are you using the default DHCP settings on both the Motorola and the Netgear?
Assuming that you're using DHCP, check in the setup for the Netgear and make note of the address range that it's using for its LAN side. Then do the same with the Motorola. Make sure that the ranges are different. For example, if the Netgear is using 192.168.15.xxx, make sure that the Motorola isn't also using that range. If it is, change it to something like 192.168.16.xxx . |

I just fixed it after looking around on this forum. I think I needed to give the adapter 5mins to update firmware before plugging the phones in and I wasn't doing that before. So I unplugged everything, replugged, let it update and now it works fine.
Thank you. |
