A few weeks ago I was using the phone, hung up, started to make another call and I had no dial tone - or any tone - from the phone port on my RDP300. Waited 30 minutes on hold for a Vonage tech to lead me through resetting my box including putting in a Vonage-provided password.
Just a few minutes ago it happened again. Pick up my phone, no dial tone, nothing. Internet is working just fine.
Does it sound like something is going wrong with the phone port on the router, or is this an error with my Vonage account? |

Okay, now I seriously need help, I tried doing a factory reset w/o the password, I still have no phone and my Internet service through the router is crap! I have to start working from my phone in 45 minutes and I have no phone service, and no way to contact Vonage for help. ANY ideas? Anybody? |

For now just move the line to port 2 of the unit and see if that works. |

I finally got it to work after a second reset. That's aggrivating, though. |

The phone line went dead again last night, contacted support. They supposedly made some changes and promised that this problem would not happen again.
Phone line went dead again just about a half hour ago, contacted support again. This time they said they were moving my number from Phone1 to Phone2, reboot the router and all would be well. Have rebooted the router, Phone1 is dead, Phone2 gives an error of 0108. Factory reset doesn't appear to be helping.
Great. I now, once again, have no way to contact Vonage to resolve this issue.
UPDATE: After 10 minutes apparently Phone1 started to work. Apparently their attempt to move the number to Phone2 failed. Called back into tech support, they're sending me a refurbed V-Portal. JOY! The downside is that I lose 3 of the LAN ports. Not a deal breaker, I have a WiFi router with a couple of ports on it, that should be okay.
Of course, the phone line only died two more times on me in trying to get this set up. |
