A more convenient solution, I suspect, would be for you to get a UK Virtual Phone Number. Once you have this, you can be called direct and your girlfriend will be billed at UK rates.
She will be billed at UK rate to a virtual number, but the $4.99 you pay makes it a lot cheaper for her to call you than if she were to call your US Number, or you to call her UK cell.
Is it a pay monthly (contract) phone she has or prepay. If it's the former, the advantage of a virtual number is it would mean her calls to you come out of her inclusive minutes.
