How about you give an accurate description of your set-up, what problems you are having, and what solutions you have tried? It becomes much easier to diagnose an issue when we know the details and we start eliminating things one at a time. |

I use it while traveling in the middle east.
The set up I have:
DSL -> Router (3COM 3CRWDR101A-75) -> Vonage (VT2142) -> phone -> PC is connected to router Vonage connected to router via Internet (blue) connection.
I did (repeated 10 times): - Disconnected power from router and Vonage, left 10 minutes, then power up router, wait, then Vonage. - The Internet light is solid green, the power light blinks green for a while (one blink, two blinks, three blinks), then blinks red. - The message over the phone: the device could not register.
I exchanged emails with Vonage customer service. They said that my device is active. I went through all of their instructions on resetting and checking the power supply.
Additionally, I connected the PC the ethernet port on Vonage. I set the port forwarding on VT2142 for port 5061 to 5061 and the 10000- 20000 to 10000. Still it didn't work. I checked the IP addresses and Vonage is properly configured with the router.
The device was working well before the blockage. Instead of the DSL service I connected the Vonage device to a Satellite Internet Service (at a friend's house), i.e., bypassing the whole country's restrictions. I just plugged the blue cable in his router and the Vonage device became operational in less than a minute! I can't afford the Satellite Service as it requires an investment in equipment.
Access to web sites like: www.TestMyVoip.com is even blocked!
I ran the Vonage test on DSL: download= ~800kbps , upload = ~300kbps. VPN is working.
I asked the DSL provider and they said they blocked Voip recently.
I talk to my family an hour a day. Voange is a reasonably priced service. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated. |
