Not an issue for me. And I would be furious if they started offering it and increased the cost w/o any option to not have it. Total costs + taxes and junk run about $28.10/month for Vonage unlimited. I would be happy to see that drop to $20-21/month and if that means paring down some of the features, that would be fine. |

I don't really see why it is important for a residential customer to have OUTGOING CID. I DO think that Vonage should offer OUTGOING CID to commercial/business customers (at a much higher monthly rate obviously). There would be less work updating the CNAM with pure Commercial accounts rather than if every residential line was updated in the CNAM. Businesses do not move in and out as much as residential subscribers.
Besides, I don't really care to have some of the people that I call know my first and last name. If all they see is a number...that's fine with me. |

To me it's important because I think it's important, and there's nothing more to be said about it. My crappy ass rural telco whose phone lines go out every time it rains, many of their lines actually run across the ground over the hills and hollars of eastern Kentucky can give outbound caller ID, but a more technically advanced provider like Vonage cannot?
Even if it really is nothing more than a bauble, image can mean a lot, and just by looks alone my crappy rural telco appears to offer a lot more things than Vonage does.
Further, we're talking about Vonage. We can move around as much as we like, home can be wherever we hang our ethernet. That's the whole point of the service. Stability in a mobile world. *grin* |

Any word on an update.
I have many clients waiting to convert to Vonage, but that is a deal breaker for some of them. |

Thanks for the explanation as to why Vonage doesn't do the outbound CallerId.
I don't know why anyone would assume that Vonage is making money. Look at the annual 10-K filing for 2008 ... 90 mil more debt than assets... over 1 billion of accumulated losses since inception ... They have a long way to go until the come even close to recovering their losses.
Overall, great product at an even better price! |
