VonTechMgr: I removed the port forwarding to test to see if my current setup works. As of now it seems to be. Thanks. If this is the case the 2nd adapter should not be a problem. For some reason I had forwarded as I thought it was the only way it would work (I had problems before I believe). We shall see how it goes. Thanks again.

The short answer is why not. Plug two different TA's behind your router. Should not be a problem. I do that with two different Voip providers entirely. If you have to do port forwarding for one, assign another static IP to the other TA and clone the port forwarding configs to it as well. Though I am wondering why you need to do port forwarding at all. But if you do, just copy the same settings across to another TA with a static IP.

I have two Vonage accounts (one business, one residence) at the same physical address. The business account has five Vonage telephone numbers (feeding a PBX). They appear on three ATAs. The residence account has two numbers sharing one ATA.

My four ATAs are all connected to a common router which is connected to a single cable modem with a total of one public IP address. No non-standard administration of the router is necessary. All of the Vonage ATAs periodically pester the Vonage proxy server, and thereby keep their individual NAT pinholes open as described in one of the prior posts in this thread.

Two residence accounts sharing an Internet connection would be another example of the same kind of configuration. It works.

(Fortunately, in my case, the Cable company provides enough bandwidth and little enough jitter that all of these devices peacefully coexist without qos issues.)

I have two TA's (a voice and fax line on first TA, and another voice line on 2nd TA).

The voice line on the second TA can place calls, but incoming calls ring, but when you pick up you hear dead air on both ends.

My connection is thus:
Comcast modem==> Vonage VDV21-VD ==> DLink DIR 655 router ==> Vonage VTA

The VDV21 is configured to have the DLink in the DMZ.
the DLink is configured to have the VTA in the DMZ.

So what can be the issue? Perhaps VonTechMgr has an idea?

(BTW, I have a Brother MFC-9840 device and have been having nothing but problems with the fax, both sending and receiving.
Vonage tech support tried many things, but nothing seems to work).

You should have actually started a new thread instead of hijacking one that is irrelevant to your current issue and has been dead for 5 months.

And yes, the answer is simple. It is being caused by the SIP ALG and SPI firewall in the in the DIR-655. The DIR-655 is not allowing the 200 OK out to the internet which will prevent Vonage to even know you have answered your phone and will not initiate an audio session.

Log into your DIR-655, go to Advanced, then Firewall Settings. At the top, remove the check on the box for Enabled SPI. Then go to the bottom and remove the checks next to SIP and RSTP. Save your settings and reboot the DIR-655 and then the VTA.

Sorry VonTechMgr,

Did not realize I was hijacking an old thread. I posted here since the discussion was related (using multiple TAs), so I thought it was relevant.

Thanks for pointing out the error of my ways. Smile

And... thanks for that info! It was on the money!! Problem solved!
