Post subject: Fax and phone using one line?
Can I buy a coupler and use one line for my phone and for my fax? I'm only going to be using my fax once a month or so...
I have an HP 6310 and a fairly new Uniden 2.4Ghz phone
Thanks

I've set my
Vonage
service up hardwired to the phone wiring in the house and hooked up the Fax machine to that line. It's set to not auto-answer. When we have an incoming Fax (quite rare), I just hit the answer button. Sending is just like it was with the old VZ phone line. This setup replaces two phone lines (including a dedicated Fax line) with one
Vonage
number.
Some faxes "listen" on the lines for tones when ringing is detected and will pick up incoming faxes with those (the 'beep-beep-beep' you'll hear when sending). Those machines won't pick up on a voice call. My Lexmark won't do that, so I'm stuck with manual answer.

Hi sjbdeebo2,
Ya , it's possible in my office when our phone line is dead we can use the line connected to fax machine.

It's better for you to subscribe to an internet
fax service
. It's easier and cheaper. I personally use Popfax.com
internet fax
service and it offers reasonable and efficient rates.
