I'm gonna try this one more time.
I'm going in to the settings > restore to default > restart
I will unplug everything for 10 minutes.
Restart the cable modem and then, the Vonage device.
I will post a new screen shot when this is done. |

[the phone line to Line 1 was disconnected]

When you get an IP like this on the VT2142, from your computer connected to the VT2142, go to start, run, type cmd. At the command prompt type nslookup www.google.com and see if it returns a few IP addresses or not. Then at the command prompt, try to ping an IP direct. Type ping 64.233.169.99 and see if you get any responses. These tests will verify if the issue your having is DNS related our not. |

So to verify, I need to repeat the last step I took (which got me that IP) and follow the directions you posted? |

Yes that's correct. So with the PC connected to the VT2142, check the status page and if it has an IP address, run the tests listed. If you have an IP on the Vt2142 but can't ping the IP for google.com, there is truly no internet connection at the VT2142. It is either burnt out from the power outage or something the ISP is doing to prevent it from accessing their network. |

This is so frustrating.
This time no red light, just slow green. This happened both with phone line connected and disconnected.
Again: restore to default > restart > power cycle
Here's the screenshot: This time no IP

I also tried to nslookup www.google.com, no results. Ping 64.233.169.99, no results. |

When there is no IP, your not going to get anywhere. When you had an IP, I wanted to see why you could not get internet or phone. Running the tests when you have no IP will fail as your not communicating with you ISP. It does appear the VT2142 is damaged and not operating correctly. |
