Hello,
I am considering purchasing Vonage for my business. I have checked and I can keep my phone number, but I have a fax # which is 404-366-0208. The V-Portal has two telephone ports on the back if I am correct. So one port will be for the phone but how will I get the fax to work? Do I plug the fax in the other port? How will I keep my fax # and my phone #? Can I have 2 numbers, one for one port on the V-Portal and another for the other port? Because my fax is a seperate # from my phone #. |

All Vonage telephone adapters have 2 phone ports. Each phone port is reserved for one phone number. If you have one phone number, only phone port 1 is active. If you have two numbers then port 1 is the first number and port 2 is the second number.
In your situation, you would open your account and sign to port your voice line. You would then have to add an additional voice line to the device and chose to port your fax number. Note that it would port as a voice line since lines cannot port in to Vonage as fax lines. Once the port completes, you can have it switched to a fax line. There is absolutely no difference between voice lines and fax lines except for the billing and fax lines do not come with any calling features such as Voice mail, call forwarding, and Simul-Ring.
Adding an additional line and initiating the LNP can all be done through your web account so it is not needed to sit on hold or have anyone do it for you. The only time you would need to call in is once the LNP completes on your fax number so that you can request it be converted from a Voice line to a fax line. |
