I have looked at the network setup illustrations and do not see setup instructions to place the Vonage adapter in front of a router. I know the router should connect to the adapter via the yellow port but what should the settings be on both the Vonage adapter and router. I cannot access the internet or the Vonage adapter when it is in front of the router.
Thanks. |

Yes, I have the adapter connected to my ISP using MAC Cloning and receive a dial tone. The problem is the computers connected to the router behind the adapter - the cannot connect to the internet. I'm sure I need to adjust the router settings but don't know what they should be.
I believe its safer to have the adapter behind the router but I am having Qos issues when I setup this way. |

So I am guessing that the Vonage telephone adapter does get an IP address from your ISP when connected directly to the modem and the phone works. The next step for you is to confirm you are able to log into your own router that the PC's connect to. If you can, log into your router, check the WAN / Internet port settings. Make sure this is set to DHCP. If it is, go to the status page and see if you have an IP address of 192.168.15.x(x being a random number).
If not, confirm that the Ethernet cable connects from the Yellow LAN port on the Vonage adapter to the WAN/ Internet port of you router. If this checks out, there might be some sort of DHCP conflict that is occurring when your router is making a DHCP request and the Vonage adapters DHCP server does not like something in the request.
Go back into your router and to the WAN / Internet setup. Change DHCP to Static IP. For IP put 192.168.15.100, for subnet mask put 255.255.255.0, for default gateway put 192.168.15.1, and for DNS you can use any open DNS servers but for testing just put 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2
Once configured, save the settings and see if your PC's can now get to the internet. If you still cannot, try replacing the Ethernet cable between the Vonage adapter and your router. Possibly this cable is no good. |
