then are you saying you also want to be able to dial out with your old number as well?
if so then the on hold plan is possible but the per minute charge for outgoing calls will add up. I'm not sure why you want to also be able to call out from it since you already have a Vonage number from which you can already do this? anyway, I am now officially confused as to your reasoning. maybe you can explain this one more time.
If you already have unlimited calling from your Vonage phone # why would you also want to call out from your old POTS number? |

My basic reason is that companies have our old number and I don't want them to have the new number. Some calls might be important and we don't want to miss them. I was looking for the cheapest way to have the number on Vonage. |

so then you do not want to lose the ability to receive calls. Well, then incoming calls with a virtual # will do exactly that.
the caller will have no idea that the call has been forwarded and would not be given the Vonage # |

I do not want it to ring the same phone though. I want it to ring a separate phone only. |

okay so I think I got it.
You want to keep both numbers on separate phones.
I do not see any help on account on hold. I have never heard of it. I do not know if there is a time limit etc on this type of account.
Can you show me where you saw it? |

unless I can't see something you can see, I see no url or reference to anything on vonage.com.
I was on it looking for account on hold and did not find any result in the search. that's all.
I see holler's post saying that such an account type exists but I can't find it. |

Maybe it is unadvertised. I might call Vonage and ask them. |
