Hi,
I was using the D-Link VTA with a Linksys wired router and it works fine behind my wired Linksys router. Recently upgraded my wired router to a Netgear WGR614v6 wireless router and been having problems ever since.
I having been tearing my hair out for several days trying to get the D-Link VTA to work with my new wireless router, a Netgear WGR614 v6. The unit manages to get an DHCP IP address, and the power and internet lights are solid greem, but the line 1 and line 2 lights just keep flashing. Both the lights flash every second and at the same time. It appears the unit does not register with the Voip provider and all I hear is dead air on the line.
I have tried port forwarding, and putting the VTA in the DMZ, but I still get the same flashing flashing line 1 and line 2 lights.
I have used a PAP2 with this router and it works fine, so I do not understand why it conflicts with the VTA.
Anyone have the same router and got it working with the VTA?? Anyone experiencing similar problems? Any ideas on how to get this working? It's too late for me to return the Netgear WGR614 so I'm stuck with it.
Thanks

Hi Sarah,
Are you sure you did not configure a static IP on this VTA when it was connected behind the Linksys router and you currently believe it is getting the IP via DHCP? Most people do not put a static IP on this device type and only use DHCP but if for any reason you had been instructed to configure port forwarding or placed the VTA into the Linksys router's DMZ, you may have configured a static IP on the VTA. If you did, it may have the wrong network address which wont communicate with the Netgear.
Commonly a Netgear router will default on the 192.168.0.0/24 network while a Linksys router will default to the 192.168.1.0/24 network. Can you confirm what the IP address is on the VTA and then check the IP on your computer to verify that they both have the same 3rd octet? If the IP on the VTA has a different 3rd octet (192.168.1.x vs 192.168.0.x) go ahead and factory reset the VTA. |

The VTA was never configured for static IP with the Linksys, it was using DHCP and working fine. I did not have to open any ports or anything. It just worked!
The VTA is definately using DHCP with the Netgear WGR614, it's IP is 192.168.1.4. I have accessed the VTA homepage from my PC which is also connected to the same Netgear router and in the "attached devices" section of the routers home page at 192.168.1.1 it shows the VTA's IP as 192.168.1.4. I have pinged the VTA too from my PC at this address.
So it does get an IP, and provisioned, as the power light is solid, and the internet light is solid green too, flickers sometimes, probably trying to register the lines I presume.
The PAP2 works fine with the Netgear WRG614, I did not have to open any ports, DMZ or anything else. It just worked!
Don't know why the VTA is not working with the Netgear, I just connected it back to the Linksys wired router and its working. Connected it to Netgear and I get the same 2 flashig lines.
There was a similar thread before:-

but the OP must have got it working. |

No Vonage telephone adapters use a stun server. Vonage does not use stun as a NAT solution. |

Hi,
I also have a Netgear WGR614 router and my Vonage service has been poor at best. I pretty much cannot receive incoming calls (the phone rings once on my end but goes immediately to voicemail on the callers end). I did check my settings and I do use DHCP. Any advice is welcome.
Thanks, beth |
