Thanks for the info about being able to use
Vonage
Talk while another is using the phone adapter with the same phone number.
There is something VT does not like about my system. I just tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and now it's even worse.
Now VT either silently crashes when I sign in or displays a message that I am using the wrong ID/Password, when these worked before I uninstalled it.
It must not do a complete uninstall, because it seems to be getting the ID and PW from somewhere, perhaps the Windows Registry or Application Data folders. There is still a
Vonage
Talk folder under Application Data. The Program Files\Vonage folder is gone. There may be Registry or Application Data entries remaining that are confusing it.
I will now do a System Restore to this morning before the uninstall.
UPDATE1:
Did the System Restore and
Vonage
Talk reappeared, but VT still silently closes after signing in. Checked the log and it reported a disconnect from Wengo. Renamed the Application Data
Vonage
Talk folder and started VT again. It automatically creates a new VT folder. no more closing of VT, but I consistently get the bad ID/PW message.
UPDATE2:
I tried logging in to my
Vonage
account page to see if there was an issue with login and sure enough I could not log in with my normal PW.
I called
Vonage
technical support, she reset my password and after changing to a new PW I can now log in both on the
Vonage
site and with
Vonage
Talk. She said they have seen that issue before with old passwords not always being recognized by
Vonage
Talk.
I am basically back where I was before the uninstall. I can sign in, but I still get the "SIP" message.

I had been using
Vonage
talk for some time and all of a sudden had the problems with "SIP Account is not connected". I tried the advice from the
Vonage
Talk forum (at
http://alpha.vonage.com
) per below which solved my problem. Then one day, it did not connect, so I rem'd the host line out and all is good again.
BTW, if you are running Vista, you will need to run notepad in administrator mode to make the change to the hosts file.
So, my suggestion is to try the hosts file fix below:
"For those who are able to log into
Vonage
Talk but receiving the message "SIP Account is not connected" when attempting to place a call, you may need to place an entry into the hosts file on your computer.
What appears to be occuring, at least for some users, is that the computer the
Vonage
Talk client is performs a DNS lookup each time the client attempts to contact one of the
Vonage
Talk servers. This causes the connection to fail since the session that was created on one server does not exist on other one. The solution is to force the computer to only use one server. The hosts file stops the computer from performing a DNS lookup on internet address names stored in the file and use the IP address contained in the file instead.
To do this, simply open the hosts file with a text editor (such as Notepad) and add a line at the end of it that says the following:
69.59.232.110 a.vonim.com
The hosts file is located in different locations for each operating system.
Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista: (Windows Directory)\system32\drivers\etc\ Windows 95/98/Me: (Windows Directory)\
Linux and other Unix-like operating systems: /etc
Mac OS X: /private/etc"

Thanks, I have been using the host entry all along. I just rem'd it out and rebooted, but I still get the SIP account is not connected message.
Looking at the following lines from C:\Program Files\VonageTalk\log-main.txt, it looks like it cannot load the Wenbox DLL because Windows Shared Library Loader cannot resolve symbol 127. Perhaps this represents a conflict with other software? How do these lines look on systems where
Vonage

I am using Vista and only had an issue when this application first came out. I think this application is dead in the water now without anymore upgrades to the application. \Even if stop the application you can't remove the 011username from the simulring/call forward until you actually enter another number, a glitch left by VT.
You may have to upgrade to
Vonage
Companion, which is why VT is no longer being developed.

I think it is one in the same. The calling plan is called
Vonage
Pro, and
Vonage
Companion is the application that is replacing
Vonage
Talk. I don't have it, nor will I pay for it.

It's a frappin piece of junk. I've tried multiple times over the last year or so to use it on three different PCs, either the application refuses to recognize my username/password or it randomly crashes (either one or the other, never the same predictable pattern twice). Support on the
Vonage
Alpha forums has been a complete joke, unresponsive and unhelpful.
Why would I want to pay for something that can't even work for free? What's even worse is that this is forked off of a very nice, stable and working SIP application.

I've been using
Vonage
Talk now for well over a year with great success as well as many others have.
Do you know anyone who uses
Vonage
and the
Vonage
Talk application? Maybe they would allow you to sign-in on their
Vonage
Talk application with your username and password. If
Vonage
Talk crashes with your credentials but not theirs, that would lead me to believe that there is a problem within your account that's preventing you from using
Vonage
Talk.
Support for
Vonage
Talk is basically non-existent due to the fact that the program is no longer under development.

Feh, there was no support for it even when it was under development. Every two months they'd make an update to the "logins are now fixed" thread, only for a dozen or so posts to follow about how it wasn't fixed.
It would have been nice if one of the developers had suggested that there was a problem with my
Vonage
account, and then looked into it. Instead I keep getting excuses about server issues or my computer being a problem (including two computers that had fresh, clean WinXP SP2 installs) even though I have no problem running Skype, Gizmo or any other SIP application. Assuming I even get a response. Several times I got no responses either in the forums or to PMs that the developers themselves requested.
