Actually, QoS and QOS stand for two different things. QoS on your router does refer to packet scheduling. QOS on the broadband test refers to the amount of saturation on your broadband connection. So changing the QoS settings on your router won't affect the broadband QOS results in any way.

My Results
Download 273,704 bps
Upload 216,280 bps
QOS 21%
RTT 163 ms
MaxPause 484 ms

This is with a 512/256 broadband connection.. upload seems ok, but download no.. Nevertheless when I donwload any file download speed is not consistent, I mean I dont download files at 64KB/s all the way.. One second I'm downloading at 20KB/s, the other one 40KB/s, then 17KB/s, 50KB/s.. it's not as uniform as it should be...

which is why your qos is low. that's the first time I've seen a true representation of that qos measure. interesting.

...so would setting my PAP2 to use a static IP and do all that port forwarding nonsense improve my QoS? I have to say that my service is better than expected...crystal clear...and the Republican in he hates to mess with a good thing Smile If so, where could I find a guide to walk me through it...read in the book that I can set the static IP within the interactive PAP menu, but I also saw that I could set it using the router...not sure if all roads lead to Rome.

Also, if I were to setup a static IP address, would this create problems if I took my phone adapter on the road with me? If, for example, I plugged it into the wall at a hotel, would I need to set it back to DCHP, or whatever that is, to use a dynamic IP that I get coming out the wall? Smile

A static IP wouldn't make your service any better. And you say it's excellent already. And yeah, it would make travelling a headache if you're not pretty comfortable with these issues. So I say leave it alone and just enjoy being a happy, stress-free Vonage customer.

I am using Comcast with a RCA cable modem connected to a Linksys RT31P2. I am connecting through the Linksys with a Netgear WGT624. I am hardwired and not wireless. I don't have the laptop here to test the speeds of the wireless side.

How are most of you getting 300-400kbps on upload? Most importantly, how are some of you getting up to 6mbps down and 8kbps up with cable modems?

It says I can handle up to 3 high quality Vonage connections.

My Results
Download 3,159,416 bps
Upload 251,344 bps
QOS 98%
RTT 69 ms
MaxPause 125 ms

Thanks.
