reebok,
I have seen exactly the same behavior as you. this was the primary reason I turned the auto off - i wasn't able to do anything on the upload - it trickled up!
as for setting the QoS Upstream Rate - I am more confused than ever as to what it is supposed to be set at.
Can we get a GURU here to answer some of these questions?

My numbers with nothing in use:
Download 3.13 Mbps
Upload 245 kbps
QOS 98%
RTT 21 ms
MaxPause 16 ms
My numbers running 1
Vonage
call, 2 running sessions of a MMORPG:
Download 392 kbps
Upload 115 kbps
QOS 8%
RTT 21 ms
MaxPause 1797ms
After the call with just the 2 sessions running:
Download 2.67 Mbps
Upload 219 kbps
QOS 64%
RTT 16 ms
MaxPause 187 ms
The
Vonage
call kills the download stream dramatically ... Going to have to see if anything can be done about that or quit playing games while i'm on the phone.

Almost sounds like the problem discussed in the thread about Comcast routers blocking traffic when they hear a steady stream.
This is what I see on my 6mg/1mg cable from Community Cable.
Nothing going on:
Download 5,970,880 bps
Upload 432,272 bps
QOS 65%
RTT 76 ms
MaxPause 31 ms
While on the phone, telecommuting & surfing:
Download 5,993,608 bps
Upload 63,504 bps
QOS 72%
RTT 76 ms
MaxPause 32 ms

Forgot to mention that, but yes, I do have comcast here. I may have to give them a call and get their scoop on it.

This is with a VT1005v behind a Linksys WRT54GS. If anyone has input on how to set the Linksys's QoS, I'd appreciate it.

fishbone2, I'm using the Linksys WRT54GS, as well. All I have done is upgrade the router firmware to v3.37.2 dated Nov. 9, 2004 to enable QoS.
Then, within QoS settings, I have the enable radio button checked, I'm using Auto as my upstream bandwidth setting, and I'm using High priority on the MAC address of the VT1000v device. I'm not using port based or application based QoS -- just the device based. Works like a charm for me!

I made some adjustments to the
Voip Speed Test
Those of you with very high bandwidth connections should now receive more accurate test results.
