Booma, I'll try the decaf. To funny. But from your diagram, it looks like I should put in my wireless router before my Vonage box to improve my Vonage jitter. Right now, I have it; cable modem - motorola Vonage box - wireless router - computer. Your diagram shows cable modem - wireless router - Vonage box - computer. This correct?

My diagram is how I have my set up. It works fine for me, but it is not the recommended method. What Vonage suggests is to put the phone adapter/router directly into your cable/dsl modem then any other gear after the phone adapter/router. This way, as is the case with the Motorola VT2442, you will be taking advantage of the QOS and giving priority to the Voip traffic.

Mine is set up this way because my wireless router is also my cable modem. It's an all in one cable modem/router/WAP. Although I can put it into a mode that makes it act like a modem, it would prevent me from using the WAP portion of it.

Like I said, it works for me just fine. It never hurts to just try it! What exactly is your problem besides the jitter?

Booma, I occasionally get some breaks in line. Meaning, when you are listening to someone talking, there are some pops or breaks in their speech. Since running the speed test, it seems the jitter is the only possible bad score in my test. That is why I was suspect of the jitter being the culperate of the breaks.

As far as my setup. My wireless router and cable modem are two separate devices, I blieve I prefer the setup I'm using due to I want my phone calls to have priority.

Any ideas on the breaks?

Do you recall your test id number, I will take a look at the audit and get back to you.

When the test completes it is listed on the speed page for some reason, however clicking it needs the server authentication details us/pw. If you hit the keyboard letter 'i' when the test finishes it will open an audit window with the TCP trace details for review.

So I am pasting the info that might contain the numbers you need in it. If not, let me know.

I really need to see the full TCP trace data as the QoS is bad and the Max Pause is high indicating a consistency issue. I need to fathom how material the TCP pause gaps are. The system is able to support a 1ms resolutiuon indicating that the platform is capable but the summary shows a final segment of only 1.7mbps versus the previous 4 segments average 3.8mbps. over a 50% drop and the QoS is only 44%. The RTT is constatnt so it is important to review the TCP gaps to see if there is a throttle or congestion issue.
