try going to www.testyourvoip.com and do a test call to Boston, and post the DETAILED results that show the to and from details.

Has anyone else noticed that a lot of people who posted their results from the Voip test have upload figures way less than their dowload amount. Why is this? Mr Connor, any suggestions? When I called suppor they said I should call my cable company.
I am running a WRT54GP2 by linksys and have been getting a lot of complaints from people on the phone that I sound like a robot.

That is the way broadband is sold, normally the upload speed is a fraction of the download.

Take mine for example: I have Optimum Online by CableVision.

From their website:
"Optimum Online for business can connect at up to 10Mbs downstream and up to 1Mbps upstream."

And that is just about what I receive.

If you have a high speed connection you most likely have a very high qos with low latency. I believe the phone adapters have been optimized for the best transfer rate (not fastest).


I made similar changes to RWIN - and QOS increased from 53% to 95% - however what use is this as measure of your Vonage performance unless you are using Softphone on your Windows based machine??

None...Using Dr.TCP is for the NIC card, and really wont affect Vonage...

Try www.testyourvoip.com instead for Vonage performance if you currently have it.

I ran this a few times and my max pause was anywhere from 110 to 500. I've noticed the pause in some conversations and it makes if difficult to carry on a conversation. Any ideas of how I can reduce this or where it is coming from?

my test shows that i can support upto 4 Voip connections and my speed at 4.92Mbps download and 374 Kbps upload and the QoS is 99% RTT 59ms and MaxPause 31ms

I'm trying to work through this problem with Vonage, but with no luck so far, so I thought I'd humbly beseech those here for any ideas you might have...

I'm in Atlanta, GA, using Comcast. My sound quality is excellent, but the people I'm speaking with always complain of an echo.

I have a Motorola cable modem, then the Linksys RT31P2 router; nothing in between. I've tried connecting only a wired phone with no improvement (I usually have my DirecTivo on a splitter; to the router I have my PC and an MS wireless router acting as an access point for a 2nd PC).

Using the test here a few times, I get:

Download 2,040,568 bps
Upload 358,216 bps
QOS 53%
RTT 54 ms
MaxPause 297 ms

Download 2,349,272 bps
Upload 288,096 bps
QOS 36%
RTT 57 ms
MaxPause 93 ms

Download 2,090,408 bps
Upload 309,000 bps
QOS 76%
RTT 55 ms
MaxPause 110 ms

Needless to say, it always says I can handle up to 4 connections.
