High latency isn't really an issue.... as long as it's constant.... it's when it varies that you have issues.. granted that's going to impose 1/2 a second of lag in the conversation.. but shouldn't cause it to be unusable.. if it's constant.

I'm a
Vonage
Newbie, but a network/telecom professional.
Here are a few things to keep in mind while running these tests.
This is a speed test/delay test to your computer. If you have made modifications to your computer to maximize the download speeds (i.e. Dr.TCP available at dslreports.com) then you will notice lower QOS.
As you increase the TCP Receive window, the longer the delay between "data bursts" My TCP Receive window was 64240. When I ran the test my download speed was 2.4Mb/s. QOS was 10%. Max latency was 530ms. I changed the TCP Receive window to 16060 and reran the tests. Download speed decreased to 2.15Mb/s. QOS went to 98% and Max latency went down to 5ms.
If you have a high speed connection you most likely have a very high qos with low latency. I believe the phone adapters have been optimized for the best transfer rate (not fastest).

My Results
Download 1,110,480 bps
Upload 723,328 bps
QOS 39%
RTT 73 ms
MaxPause 581 ms
The numbers don't look good but the test suggests that I can support 9 lines!?

it's evidently based on upload bandwidth alone, not qos, maxpause or whatever else.

To regress slightly, word to bbtrumpetguy. Cool tool indeed.
My personal results (though slightly lame) are as follows:
Download 583,088 bps
Upload 241,976 bps
QOS 75%
RTT 51 ms
MaxPause 219 ms
3 simultaneous high qualtity
Voip
connections...
(wondering what it would have been before replacing the modem)....

As I have posted many time before, and no one has really responded, I'll try yet again using QOS (great choice of name!, confuse the noobs even more when you explain how to set QoS)
Comcast - North of Boston, MA
Down: 3Mbps
Up: 256kbps
Linksys RT31P2 Settings: Voice QoS Upstream Rate = 110Kbps (gave a little padding to be on the safe side: bandwidth saver setting * 2 + 10 (in case there are two calling being spoken to - based on other postings in this forum))
Vonage.com bandwidth saver at 50kbps
Test 1: No Call
Download 3,175,416 bps
Upload 249,872 bps
QOS 98%
RTT 71 ms
MaxPause 16 ms
Test 2: Call from home phone to cell phone - making noise on both ends of line simultaneously
Download 430,664 bps
Upload 17,056 bps
QOS 15%
RTT 75 ms
MaxPause 922 ms
Okay - so here's my repeated comment... isn't this a bit ridiculous! Is there a way to prevent such a huge loss of bandwidth by the phone call. To have a 3Mbps line crawl on its knees!
I have posted many times with many different tests as well - and it boggles me that no one is really that concerned with such a huge loss.
The above tests are within seconds of each other, from the same computer, the only difference being on the call or not. And for any doubters, I'll repeat it again:
Test 3: No Call
Download 3,165,824 bps
Upload 240,272 bps
QOS 98%
RTT 70 ms
MaxPause 16 ms
Test 4: Call from home phone to cell phone - making noise on both ends of line simultaneously
Download 721,296 bps
Upload 17,520 bps
QOS 76%
RTT 88 ms
MaxPause 63 ms
Am I missing something here?
