Line noise so bad
Vonage
is unusable.
Noise goes away when I disable LAN pc's connection or unplug the RJ45s. Also goes away after powering down router (Linksys WRTP54G) until cool but returns after up to operating temp again.

download speed - 329 kbps
upload speed - 354 kbps
QoS - 62%
jitter - 4.7 ms
packet loss - 0%
Max Pause - 684 ms
So.... I did the test and I still have some questions.
It seems like getting a good clear conversation is few and far between.
I can hear the other party really well, but my voice is all unclear and cutting in and out.
I've tried a few different setups of our configuration, and was wondering if anyone else had any input.
We have 3 pc's, 1 wireless laptop, and the
Vonage
router, all coming out of a Linksys router. I tried the
Vonage
before the router, thinking that would throttle everything else, and become our firewall, but a IT/Networking friend said to put after the Linksys and install Netlimiter on all the PC's and the laptop.
It really seems that, I can only really get a clear call off when NOTHING else is going on. I'm not stupid, I know I can't try to download tons of stuff and do a lot of P2P stuff with a lot of uls/dls going on and expect an awesome phone conversation at the same time. I'd just like a normal conversation to go off without a hitch everytime I try to use it under normal circumstances.
For the record, I'm in LA County, just north of Los Angeles, in Newhall. Newhall is part of Santa Clarita which has a population of about 120k. Our ISP was Comcast, but now is TimeWarner/Roadrunner.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks for allowing the rant.
If anyone is willing to help me out, I'll be willing to provide any other info that may help them help me.
Thanks,
Jason

Post subject: RTP300- Static Noise & Other end cannot hear me
My problem is that most of the time I hear static noise. 20% of my call, the other end doesn't hear me and I need to call back.
When I use the phone, the "Send" and "Receive" led on my cable modem are solid green until I hang up.
Obviously, I do not download or anything else while I talk over the phone.
What could be the problem?
When I test the cable modem directly to my computer, the QOS runs at 98% or so.

Post subject: QoS 6%
My Qos was 6% when I did the broadband test. Yuk, This is my first day on
Vonage
. Called someone twice. Twice we talked for a while then they couldn't hear me, even though I could hear them. Does the QoS number change or is it pretty consistent. Does weather have any effect on my cable?

Post subject: choppy Call Quality overseas user
Hello all,
I have taken my
Vonage
device to Thailand. With my ISP
My
Voip
Speed test results are:
Download 109,256 bps
Upload 118,376 bps
QOS 60%
RTT 430 ms
MaxPause 462 ms
It indicates that I can have one reasonable call with occasional choppiness. However, few calls are free of choppiness and many are so choppy that communication is impossible. I am using the bandwidth saver feature to the max. Calls are very unreliable. Anyone have any suggestion to help?
Regards,

Hello to all you
Vonage
professionals out there. I don't understand these tests at all, my calls are choppy, bad static, a loud whistle, sentences do not end correctly when you talk from one to the other. Good clarity when I speak
Vonage
to
Vonage
, otherwise very noisy friends are saying, call us and use your cell(which I don't because I only have 30 mins) your
Vonage
line is hard to hear and to chat properly. I put up with the bad line, the price is good and don't want to go back to Telus. Here are my results using DCCNET- advice please: thanks P.

Post subject: my download is 16.1/upload 362, but...
my quality of service is 72% and said "can be broken at times". I do have timeouts (packet discard and packet loss) and I do lose calls. How can this be resolved?
