No problem, I know this site has a lot going on, it is kinda loud sometimes for newcomers.

Can someone give an explanation of RTT and MaxPause; specifically, how they relate to performance, and how, if at all, they're interrelated?

Post subject: Does this look right?
Well as I have been trying to figure out the best way to work in my 2
Vonage
routers and normal network stuff I came across this forum. So when I test I get:
Download 3,562,176 bps
Upload 1,084,200 bps
QOS 15%
RTT 81 ms
MaxPause 141 ms
With a possible 14 connections....
My ISP speed test is usually around:
DL: 6972.488 Kbps
UL: 884.496 Kbps
Is it me or does the numbers seem to be off from the
Vonage
test?

QOS 98%

Post subject: Maximum connections
When the test says I can support a maximum of four simultaneous connections does this mean 4 lines in use at the same time or 4 lines available at the same time. I guess I do not know if there is overhead for a line when it is not in use or not.
Second what is the Quality of Service number. Sometimes I get in the 90s and others in the 60s. I have seen high 30s once in a great while. DoAt all of these the number of simultaneous lines does not change.
Thanks for any light you can shed on these questions.

It means four lines in actual use at once.

QOS is explained here

Thanks Dan,
That is what I thought, but before I switch my office over I wanted to make sure.. This means with the present provider service we can comfortably add four
Vonage
lines and a fax line. The saving will be over $200 per month for us. In a small office that is very significant..

Post subject: not a good connection!
Here are my results with someone on the phone and two computers online:
Download: 653,904bps
Upload: 116,760bps
QOS: 90%
RIT: 69ms
MaxPause: 110ms
Once we hang up the phone, the numbers are:
Download: 944,200bps
Upload: 368,432bps
QOS: 92%
RIT: 85ms
MaxPause: 220ms
I notice that even when nobody's using the phone line, I have to release/renew my IP a lot and/or close and reopen my browser (do I need to do this?), because I keep losing my connection, which is:
Cable > Motorola Surfboard cable modem > RT31P2 > 2 computers & phone
I never had problems like this before pre-Vonage -- could it be the router?
