OK so here are my results/problems.

ISP: Comcast - 4Mbps down / 384 Kbps up
Motorola SB5100 modem
Linksys WRT54G Router
Linksys PAP2

My home network consists of 2 desktop computers, a wireless laptop, xbox, and a Linksys Media Center Extender.

I have been running tests for several days now, and although I haven't had many problems with my service, the results are worrisome the more I look into them.

Here are my Vonage Voip speed test results:

This is my computer only with no other network activity
Download 757,784 bps
Upload 373,312 bps
QOS 59%
RTT 71 ms
MaxPause 172 ms

This is the test while on the phone
Download 801,632 bps
Upload 303,088 bps
QOS 73%
RTT 74 ms
MaxPause 203 ms

One really weird thing is, using vonage-forum speed test, I get much faster speeds using my wireless connection on my laptop, but lower QoS.

Here are my testyourvoip.com results:

From Me to San Jose:

MOS 4.0 / 5.0
(Best with G.711 is 4.4)

Degradation Sources
Codec 0.57 55.7%
Latency 0.00 0.0%
Packet Discards 0.46 44.3%
Packet Loss 0.00 0.0%

Codec G.711 (PCM at 64kbps,
20ms RTP payload,
80kbps IP BW)
Round-Trip
Latency 192 ms
Packet Discards 2.3%
Packet Loss 0.0%
Loss Periods Min: 20 ms
Avg: 40 ms
Max: 200 ms
Burst Loss

Jitter Min: 0 ms
Avg: 9 ms
Max: 178 ms

Signaling Quality Post-Dial Delay 100 ms
Call Setup Time 120 ms
Media Delay 220 ms

From San Jose to Me:

MOS 4.2 / 5.0
(Best with G.711 is 4.4)

Degradation Sources
Codec 0.58 73.9%
Latency 0.00 0.0%
Packet Discards 0.20 26.1%
Packet Loss 0.00 0.0%

Codec G.711 (PCM at 64kbps,
20ms RTP payload,
80kbps IP BW)
Round-Trip
Latency 192 ms
Packet Discards 1.5%
Packet Loss 0.0%
Loss Periods Min: 20 ms
Avg: 100 ms
Max: 200 ms
Burst Loss

Jitter Min: 0 ms
Avg: 1 ms
Max: 170 ms

Signaling Quality Post-Pickup Delay 91 ms
Call Setup Time 97 ms
Media Delay 121 ms

I have tested with pingplotter several times (30 - 60 minute periods) at different times of the day and all of my results are nearly identical to this one that I just ran for about 15 minutes:

I can go to other speed sites and do a speed test and come very close to Comcasts advertised speeds, but the test here seems to be off quite a bit.

Any help anyone can give to help me improve my stats is appreciated!!!

I'm sorry but I still cannot understand your instructions. I see the "image", but I don't know how to get the "link" part. When I rught click in the reply block, "paste" usually comes up and I can then put it into the box. Please explain again, slower this time.

Thx

Turn on load balancing on your firewall/network/router/server - that'll keep it from eating up all your bandwidth.
