I do appreciate the fact that there are many ways that a call can get routed. If it helps I am located in central WI in area code 715.
You mentioned inbound calls. In case it is significant, the problem I am having is usually with outbound calls where the person we are calling can't understand what we are saying, where the sentance are completely broken up. We can always hear them correctly.
I am really trying to stay with Vonage. Unfortunately I have a problem with quality that my family can't live with. The problem appears to be network related in some form or fashion.
Unfortunately it appears as if even if I narrow the problem down, it can't be fixed and thus it appears like I should give up and go elsewhere.
I guess I should just throw my hands up and give up <grin>.

In my case the problems seems to have be caused by the PAP2 adaptor. I chan ged to a different phone adaptor and the static and voice quality problems are gone. |

My new router has QoS and I use it. It makes a slight difference. But the real issue is that the wife is the world's biggest technophobe. If ANY THING happens then it's because 'you made me get this crappy internet phone' etc etc. Why just yesterday someone pulled the phone wire out of the TA and that set off a 45 minute tirade. Never mind that it's $50/month cheaper than MCI Neighborhood POTS, has the same phone number as is just as reliable. It's different and different is bad. Different is evil. New is wrong. I'm just a girl, math is hard. |

Thats funny since my wife was the one who finally pushed for Vonage. I had mentioned it might make sense to save some money and then let I it drop. Meanwhile, our POTS provider (who we have been with over 20 years, who bills their LD through a separate invoice . . . not sure why) . . . changed their remittance address for LD service. My wife pays everything through the bank (billpay) and of course missed the change. One day the LD folks call and informed her she was late. She checked and said, no I paid it on such and such date . . .finally they realized it went to the wrong address.
The A/R person started pushing for a credit card # on the spot (my wife said she was not rude, just insistant). Finally, my wife told her she needs to find out what hapened to the first check before she pays a second time. Then she said to me, what ever happened to switching to Vonage. The rest is history. |
