OK new problem. I have a really bad clicking sound on the line. I just got off the phone with Tech Support and they don't know what the problem is. They said they are going to send me an e-mail when they fix it. Who knows how long that will be. Has anyone else had this problem? Do we think it is my ISP or Vonage? Please tell me this service gets better. I have had a couple of problems a week for 3 months. P.S. I have ran some tests on testyourvoip.com and the results have been bad. At this point I am thinking maybe I have a bad phone adapter (RT31P2). Any help would be great. |

Time Warner (roadrunner) finally admited this morning they are having sparodic problems in our area . They also are going to replace my Motorola SB4100 with a SB5100 or 5200. They told me they need to locate one. I told them to please give me a new one, I have enough of my own problems without geting someone elses also. My tests on testyourvoip.com have been good until last night when they were really bad ( btewen 1.3-3.2). I will post once I have the new modem. |

out of curiosity, whereabouts are you located? I have (bright house) roadrunner in tampabay with the dreaded toshiba PCX1100U. I have great speed, pings and no Vonage issues with it though, so I hesitate to replace it. But if I find out they're giving the SB5100's away, I might jump on it. |

I am in a smaller town in central New York. I am about 30 miles south of Syracuse. I am going to have them give me the newer unit but I am afraid I will continue to have problems until the locate the sporadic problem. They are also going to increase the speeds later this month. Unforataly the upload speed will not increase ( stay at around 380) I will post once I have the new modem. Unless the wife throws the phone thru the window first!!!! |

I experienced the same clicking on line-1 of my PAP2 adapter. I signed up a week ago using a retail kit from Staples. I thought I'd done something wrong so I called support. After 3 department transfers and several firmware uploads, they switched me to line-2 and it's been pretty good since. WAF is there. |

Oh, if it makes any difference, I located in Hamilton, ON and was using Cogeco Internet Lite (Cable Modem) 150up/150down kbps. The Lite service does not have consistent speed so I upgraded to regular. No idea if this was the cause as I haven't asked them to switch back to line 1.
So is this a Voip provider issue or hardware? CSR said the hardware was fine... |
