Hi all,
Just bought a new WRTP54G online - awaiting its arrival. I have 2 Vonage lines for family and a cheesy Belkin wireless router. I wanted the Linksys so that I would have one box, do it all.
When I hook it up, will my Vonage profile transfer automatically, or....will I need to configure my Voip numbers into new box. I'm currently using a V-portal with my Belkin. I have local phone service DSL - so far, it works great. I'm wondering if this is going to be a case of "if it isn't broken, don't fix it"????
Thanks.

First, I'm assuming that you did not buy this from Vonage as that could change the answer, but I don't think you can get this device from Vonage anymore.
Your profile will not transfer automatically, but you can make the change online. Just go to the Vonage home page and click on the "Bought it at a store" link. You can then add the device to your account and then move your phone lines from your old device to the new one.
Personally if your current setup is working I would have just kept it and purchased a better router. A common phrase around here is that the Vonage devices are good phone devices, but poor routers.
The good news is that you will have both devices after all of this so if you don't like the new setup you can always go back to the old one.
Hope this helps. |
