In these days of Caller ID spoofing, this is hurting me as I have to actually unplug my Vonage box just to sleep now.
I keep receiving calls with someone breathing on the other line, but no answer to "hello?"'s.. I go onto Vonage and *69 and get ANONYMOUS.
How can I rectify this immediately? I'd rather not need to change numbers, but if I do, will it cost me extra? And if so, can I go to the Police about this matter? Costing ME for prank calls is NOT fair to me at all. |

you can use the ANONYMOUS call blocking: Anonymous Call Block No more unknown callers!
Vonage Anonymous Call Block lets you easily stop those annoying anonymous calls. All calls marked from callers who have deliberately blocked their Caller ID will be sent to a system message indicating that you do not accept anonymous calls. The caller will be directed to hang up and try again with Caller ID unblocked. Callers whose Caller ID information is not available will not be blocked. Only Vonage gives you the control you want – without the cost.
Easy to Use
Just dial *77 from your Vonage phone to turn on Anonymous Call Block, *87 to turn it off. |

Thanks, this is working. I just hope no important calls come in as private. That seems to be the only issue. |

I can't use this because doctors usually call as a private number or other government offices. They do have the option to unblock their number, but not sure if they can actually do it. |

My doctor's office blocks their number as well, and therefore can't call me on my Vonage line since I have anonymous call block enabled. I have my doctor's office call my cell phone instead. |

What does the *82 do, I don't see it on my list. |

If your outbound caller ID is blocked, you may dial *82 + number to unblock your caller ID for that one call. This feature depends upon the telco serving the calling number (not the called number) so your caller may or may not have it. |

This isn't about us calling, and blocking our number it is about people calling us with private numbers.
FYI it is *87 to turn off anonymous call blocking and not *82. |

The code to turn off anonymous caller ID blocking depends upon what carrier you're using. Using Verizon in NJ, the code is *82 (or star U B as in Un-Block). For callers with pulse-dialing, it's 1182. |
