I have a Linksys SPA941-NA that I would like to configure to use with Vonage. I emailed their tech support but just got a form email in response. Does anyone have any suggestions or have done this?

Thanks, Matt |

Not possible as it has a built in ATA, and Vonage requires their own ATA. |

Search the web for Voip BYOD (bring your own device). There are a dozen or more carriers who offer a variety of service plans to subscribers who provide their own ATA or IP-phone equipment. |

The only way you can use that IP phone or any other 3rd party SIP enabled hardware / software with Vonage is to signup for a normal account and add a softphone line. On softphone line, Vonage will release the SIP password to you which is the most important piece of data needed since everything else such as a proxy can be found by using Google. While the softphone line allows you to have unlimited inbound calling, you can only do 500 minutes outbound a month before getting hit with the overage charges.
There are many residential Voip providers that do allow you to bring your own device to their service and one of them is actually very good. However, since this is a Vonage forum, I will not be advertising or marketing another providers service here. |
