Every single time we call two local relatives, the audio quality is always horrible. They can't hear us.

When they call us back everything is fine.

As a test I did temporarily undo my household wiring and plugged a corded phone directly into the Vonage box and THEN my audio quality on a call to them was fine.

Why does this happen consistently with 2 certain phone numbers?

I'm stumped. Thanks.

How old is the residence/office? What type of phone wiring is involved? (cat3,5...) Has recent work been done on the home phone wiring and if so was it correctly done with proper parts,cable...etc? Are you able to try other existing phone jacks? Vonage does work with a 3rd party tech vendor for home wiring issues if it is available in your area. If not try firedog,geeksquad...etc to check out the internal wiring. Also use no more than 5 physical phones connected to one line on the Vonage device. If this is not the issue then by all means give a call into Vonage tech support.

Also, make sure you have dsconnected the PSTN phone line from your household phone wiring

>If you mean the Verizon lead to the box outside, yes I did that and clearly marked the box to not reconnect. I know I did that right because I tested that the phone line was dead when I disconnected those and that it only came back to life when I hooked up Vonage.

Thanks for any more thoughts. I did put an email into Vonage.

If not done so, or if you did not use the same cord from on the corded telephone, try using a different cord between the Vonage device and the household wiring. You might also want to check the connections on the wall jack.
