Hi,
I recently switched to Vonage from POTS (plain old telephone service). I would use Vonage's voicemail service, but I would prefer to use the answering machine I have at home because it gives me a flashing indicator on all my handsets throughout the house when I have a message. I have a Panasonic all-in-one fax / answering machine (model KX-FPG391) that worked perfectly with POTS. Now that I've switched to Vonage, the machine is getting confused - it seems to think that all incoming calls are faxes. The answering machine picks up, the greeting plays followed by the beep, you then leave your message, but the machine goes into a fax mode and the message is lost and never actually recorded. Suffice it to say, this is very annoying.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get this work correctly?
Thanks! |

A quick look at the manual for this machine points to two possibilities:
Since VOIP rings are somewhat delayed, try Changing the ring setting in TAM/FAX mode to 4 or 2 from the default 3.
Also, be sure that “GREETING ONLY” is not displayed in your settings, as it will not record though it will play the greeting, hence the unit will not record any incoming messages
Also be sure you do not have FAX mode only on. |
