As a newbie to Vonage and all things Voip, I thought it would be best to post this instead of wading through hundreds of forum threads that relate but don't address this directly (or at least that I could find).
I own a small business w/ two phone lines. I would like to start using Vonage here (I currently do use it at home and home office and am pleased). Here is the scenario I would like to accomplish:
1)A person calls our business. They get put into a call system. "Thank you for calling...for Matt dial 1, for Mike dial 2, otherwise leave a general message" 2)When the caller pushes 1 (or #100 or 205 or whatever it set up within the system) the phone transfer to another number outside of this office, namely my home office which is in a different physical location. 3)My Vonage in my home office picks up with my voicemail. The cycle is complete, everybody is happy.
My newbie understanding tells me that I need a pbx-like device. I have seen Epygi mentioned in these forums. The basic two line device is $395. Is this the best solution? I cannot afford to spend a lot on this, especially as it is our first leap into Voip. $395 seems reasonable for the Epygi model. Is there a less expensive but equally nice option? Is this device (and others like it) a simple plug-n-go operation? If I haven't made my intentions clear, please let me know and I'll try to be more specific. The bottom line? We want a simple but affordable voicemail system here that users can call into without having to talk to a person (how's that for customer service? )
Cheers, Matt |
