Before requesting your current number be xfer'ed to Vonage BE SURE the # is owned (at least on paper) by your current provider. I had a current number with Time-Warner and requested it be xfer'ed to Vonage. I filled out the 'Letter of Authorization' and sent in a previous bill as requested. After a couple of months and no xfer I finally found out my current # was owned (on paper) by World Com. I have no idea how or why but if it can happen to me it can happen to you. There is a web site where you can see who owns a number but I can't remember it now. Maybe someone else can provide it. It could save you a lot of frustration later to check up front. |

Yep .... that's the website. Interesting my old number 919-325-3947 that Time-Warner gave me is STILL owned by World Com. Go figure. |

did you not read the post I linked to?
from FineJewels: All it shows is who the current carrier of record is. The number is always owned by the carrier who originally had it and it reverts back to them when you disconnect. |

Well the Vonage CSR I spoke to said the two must match before they could port a number over. So maybe they gave me a line of BS ? I did read the forum and if it is correct my post is wrong. Not the 1st time. I guess a lesson here. Don't believe everything you read on the Internet. |
