It would seem to me that If Vonage is selling the VWr set and controls the firmware they are responsible for the security of the router. What i mean is, I understand they would not be responsible for not providing security, or if you did not set it up, but if you set it up and it constantly resets and they have not informed people of it and someone steals your wireless and possibly your info and uses it Vonage could be liable. |

How could someone steal your wireless? The onus is you the user to set up WPA or WEP when you get a wireless router, if you fail to do this then it is your fault. |

And as i siad before, with the Vonage VWR router everytime the power drops, or flashes off it defaults teh router. Its a known issue and Vonage will not fix it. They supply the firmware for the router. Just do a search for VWR on the forums and you will see thousands of posts regarding this issue. I did set up security, but it resets every couple of days and goes to default. |

purchase your own wireless router and remove the antenna on the VWR. dlink wont fix it. not a Vonage issue. |

I purchased the Dlink VWR after my Linksys died. I found that I had the same problem. Any sort of power flux and my router would default to factory settings. I saved the configuration settings and would try to re-install, yet the last thing it does is to reset itself...and back to default.
Called Vonage Sunday night, and the tech helped me troubleshoot the router to find that, yes there was a problem. She sent the return authorization that night and the next day the new router was shipped overnight. Tonight I will install and see if Vonage has resolved the problem.
It would seam that Vonage has recognized the issue and is addressing it.
I have yet to have a negative experience with Vonage in the 3 years that I've had their service. I hope this will not be the first. |

Had a power surge this weekend and it took out my linksys, so was forced to buy the VWR-VD.
Well, much to my dismay, the MAC filtering still lets device not in my "allow" list connect, and as others have stated, the router loses all settings during a reboot (soft boot from web interface) and power loss.
Can someone else confirm that devices not in their MAC filtering apply list can still connect. I tested from my two laptops that had not been entered yet!!! How this router ever got through QC is beyond me...

Issue resolved! I connected the replacement router, adjusted my settings and everything works. Unplugged the router a few times and no settings were lost. Seven systems and a Wii, wired and wireless, with no issues.
After all that I've read on this site about the customer experience with this router I was very concerned about how my issue would be handled. As usual I had a very pleasant and satisfactory experience.
Thank you, Vonage! |

for those with WEP security issues on the older VWR model, you must use internet explorer browser any other browser does not properly sync with the firmware and the password cannot be stored in the router. |

I saw that thread before I called Vonage. I tried using IE instead of my usual Mozilla. It still made no difference. Yet my issue was not just my wireless security. any power flux and my entire router was reset to factory default. My VWR router was only 2 months old. |

What router did they send you? Just got of the phone with a tech AND supervisor, and they basically told me I'm out-of-luck because they've been waiting for a VWR firmware update from D-Link for over a year now. Stranger yet, is that they also claimed that they don't send out replacement wireless routers, and only have the "wired" equipment that gets sent out when you first sign up. Since they don't make the Linksys anymore, I'm basically stuck with this piece of junk. Anyway, since the supervisor told me there was nothing he could do, my only option is to drop Vonage and go with Comcast... I R Angry!!!!! |
