I received the same model. Dlink VWR. The rep I talked to said that they (Vonage) were responsible for the firmware updates. Dlink made the router for Vonage and updates were up to Vonage. The VWR is both wired (4 ports) and wireless, so I don't understand the line they tried to feed you. The tech walked me through doing some tests and then said that they needed to send out a replacement, which they sent overnight. I then had to send the bad one back. I'm surprised that so many subscribers have had such bad experiences with customer service. I have yet to have a bad one. After reading all of the issues with this router I too was ready to go to Comcast, until I called in and received the service I did.
FYI - I've seen the Linksys WRTP54G still available new on Amazon and eBay.

I have all of the same problems with my dlink vwr bought in September in addition to symptoms of not being able to set any wifi security settings at all in the first place.

Could you post the version of the firmware of this DLINK VWR router Vonage that you have that now seems to work ok.

My firmware version is: vwr 11.4.1-r060815-1.00.04-r070401.img.
That version appears to be higher than another I have seen on these message boards.

Frankly, I could get by with a battery backups for the dlink vwr to avoid lost settings until January when someone else mentioned that Vonage would have new firmware. UNFORTUNATELY, in my case I have never been able to get the wifi settings on my dlink to take since I bought the device.

Looks like my version is the same as yours is.

VWR-11.4.1-r060815-1.00.04-r070401.img

In one string I read that you needed to use IE to be able to save the settings. I always use Firefox so I tried to see if it made a difference, didn't work for me.

I have my system on an UPS and eventually the bad router started to power cycle on it own.

Hopefully this will help someone.

I have the dlink VWR and have experienced the loss of settings after power is lost. I called Vonage CS and the guy was aware of problems with this device. His solution worked for me. Be sure to do this in exact order. I had been doing everything except using the Access Point button.

Make your changes and be sure to click "apply" on each page.

When all changes have been made, go to the "Home" tab and click the "System" button on the left side.

On the System screen click the "Restart Access Point" button.

When that is complete then go back and click the "Reboot" button.

I was able to unplug the device after this and the custom settings remained.

When will us with DLINK VWR start a class action law suit against Vonage?

Why because they still insist on not finishing any firmware upgrade to
fix the lose of settings on reboot or power lose and the terribly unusual and crazy method one must carefully set the WEP or WPA keys.

I have a set up in which I had tell them not put in opendns dns settings for blocking bad web sites for kids because I could not get over and restore the WEP keys at the same which is necessary because a change in one setting requires manual setting all other settings due to the boot failure.

A class action suit has already started for the Vonage FAX line problems.

Rather than a class action lawsuit... I'd rather fix the issue. Buy a decent router and get Vonage to swap your ATA with a v-portal. Case solved... less time and money than fighting it in court.

Must go through arbitration before you can sue, according to Terms of service.
Wouldn't it be easier if you got Vonage to replace the device instead of a lawsuit?
