Cancellation fee is where they get their money. This is a cancellation fee of 39.99 no matter what. Then if you were on any kind of deal like I was for 9.95 a month for the first three months. We canceled within two months They were going to charge us for the price of 24.99 plus the extra tax, the cancellation fee and also the extra money for "discounted" equipment. which came to the total of $120. We even asked about the cancellation and they told us that it just the 39.99. Make sure you are going to keep the service for two years or they will charge you the same. |

I read the terms of service and even checked out Vonage online before signing up. I knew the cancellation fee upfront. I also read many other pages where Vonage users had many complaints about Vonage service, tech support, and customer service. If you would have done your homework before signing up, you would have known what you were in for.
I decided to take my chances anyway and I have been VERY happy with my vonage service.
With the internet, you can check anything out completely and then you go in with your eyes more open instead of going in blindly. |

Sames as for the discounted cable deals, direct TV, cell phones, etc. Surprised? Why? |

Confused at this posting.
This information is all there in the terms of service.
It's not even hard to find like a lot of companies make it.
If I were you, I'd just go ahead and stay connected. You may even grow to like it |

I am sure it is just a matter of time before Vonage will be hit with a class action lawsuit for the way they deal with their customers. Signed up with Vonage 10/2007 and had many problems with poor call quality, garbled sound. I was using Clearwire as my internet provider. I did have Vonage Customer service call Clearwire to make sure they weren't blocking the ports.
Internet Speed Test 1648 kbps download, 256 kbps upload. Worked with high level technical support at vonage. One of their reps finally said there is nothing we can do for you. He said in some areas of the US Vonage is great in other areas it is terrible. So what can you do? I went ahead and cancelled on October 3rd.
They charged me a full month service $40 and then tacked on another $40 for early termination fee. Strange thing is I kept staying with them as they begged me not to cancel and they would fix things. They never did and when I finally cancelled because the quality was so bad they socked it to me with cancellation fees!
What a joke of a company! I hope they meet their demise soon as with customer service like this is couldn't come soon enough. |

I don't think there is really much Vonage can do since this has to be ISP issue.
Did you ever post your settings on this site and do a speed test?
What is wrong with the U.S economy is, if you don't like something do a class action lawsuit. |

I've been with Vonage for just over 3 years, the service was OK except for the Vonage vs. Comcast time-span and the numerous times they billed me for numbers I didn’t add to my account, and then took forever to realize it and credit my account – in the end they did, but should I really have to go through all this?
Today, I find I just don't use my home phone anymore and use my cell exclusivly.
Even though I’m outside the 2 year term that I supposedly agreed to (still trying to figure that one out) I suspect they'll try and charge the cancellation fee anyways - cause they are just that honest and reputable... since I don't have time to argue I just updated my account with a test credit card number (search google) - good luck to them when they try and charge the fee. |

When you call to cancel, smile and say "no thank you" to the discounted offers, get a cancellation number and you should be fine.
You have 20 or so days of service left this month, since you pay in advance, so plenty of time to work through issues (which should be "nada") Report back how you do, but over the past 6 months to a year, cancellations have gone smoothly, at least as reported here. |
