We just replaced a Linksys WRTP54G with a Vonage V-portal. Our voice mail message lights on the phone don't work any more. Is this how the V-portal works or do we have an issue? We really relied on the the voice mail light a lot. Thanks. |

I use a Vtech model (I5871) along with the V-Portal. The message indicator light on my base unit will NOT flash when a new voicemail is received. The only way I can get the indicator to flash on my phone is to disable the Vonage voicemail system and allow my phones answering system to take control of voicemails received. Double check the settings on your phone to see if there is a way to get indicator to flash with the Vonage voicemail. |

then is it just hard to see? If it has an indicator, I am confused as to why a 2nd indicator is necessary. |

No, it's not hard to see it just doesn't blink or flash. I'm guessing with his setup, when a voicemail is received the V-Portal is not as visible as a flashing indicator would be on his phone. |

My issue is still not resolved and I'm wondering if anyone has this working on their system. We installed a V-portal a few months ago and this router seems to work much better than the Linksys router that died on us except that the voice mail indicator lights don't work on our phones any more. With the Linksys router they worked great. With the V-Portal they simply don't work any more. It's really frustrating my wife and I'd like to get this resolved. I've been through the setup of the V-Portal a number of times and I can't find anything that will allow me turn the indicator on.
I know the V-Portal itself tells us if we missed calls but I have the V-Portal in our communcations closet.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

As I said before, the message waiting lights were working great with the Linksys router. It's only since the V-portal was installed that they don't work. The phones don't have a setup function. Thanks. |

Your only solution is to try a different phone system. Some phone's message indicator light will work, others don't...Mine doesn't. If you search the forum, you should be able to find a phone model that has a message indicator that will work with the V-Portal. |
