My issue is still not resolved and I'm wondering if anyone has this working on their system. We installed a V-portal a few months ago and this router seems to work much better than the Linksys router that died on us except that the voice mail indicator lights don't work on our phones any more. With the Linksys router they worked great. With the V-Portal they simply don't work any more. It's really frustrating my wife and I'd like to get this resolved. I've been through the setup of the V-Portal a number of times and I can't find anything that will allow me turn the indicator on.

I know the V-Portal itself tells us if we missed calls but I have the V-Portal in our communcations closet.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Does the message indicator work on the vportal itself? i.e When someone leaves a message, do you:

-get a stutter tone when you pick up the phone?
-voicemail icon and "x new messages(s)" message appear on the LCD screen of the v-portal?

What type of phones (make/model) are you using?

I haven't been to the forum in some time, but I thought I'd post a note letting everyone know the message waiting lights on our phones are now working. I came home one night and noticed one of the phones was blinking. I picked up the phone and sure enough I got the "message waiting" audio tone (this has always worked). I am very happy this is working (so is my wife).

I haven't checked yet, but I'm assuming Vonage sent a firmware update to our V-Portal.

I guess I jumped the gun with my last posting, now the message waiting light blinks, but it blinks all the time, whether there is a message actually there or not.

The simplest way to clear a voice mail light blinking and stutter tone is to call your self, leave a message then delete the message.

Its sounds like the message that tells the V-Portal you have or do not have voicemail waiting isn't making it there. What is your network setup? Do you have the V-Portal behind a router? If so what kind?

Call Vonage tech support and ask the tech to turn the VMI off and then on. Also power cycle the phone(s).

By message waiting indicator light, do you mean that you got a voicemail answering system on your phone itself? If you are using the answering system on phone, you need to disable voicemail on Vonage webacct. check out the phone manual online to clear the light on the phone. its quite easy or contact phone support for the telephone. they will resolve it instantly.
