the motorola is available at radio shack (and if it's not at your local rs, check rs online though they were sold out last I looked).
that will work. tons of people have asked the same thing, so a more detailed answer (if you need one) can be found by searching or by looking right at vonage.com which spells out this exact setup. I would repost the url but I'm on cell phone and can't get to it right now. this is also how my setup is (cable, Vonage rt31p2, wless). if your speed is reduced to the wless router, it would be virtually immeasruable at best. the rt31p2 is probably your best bet. some people have problems with it, but there are solutions. your best bet is to read some of the many posts about the router.

Ok, ping plotter finnished up. Percent of packets lost is between 1 and 2 percent, if I'm reading it correctly. Average response time for host is between 1 and 43. I used yahoo.com.
~Are these good? Anything else I should be looking at?
~please help me out on the previous questions, on page 1. many are still not answered. I don't mean to go so fast, that no one has time to answer.

I didn't see any pressing questions that demand an answer on page 1. can you specify what they are?

sure!
Here they are again:
1. ping plotter finnished up. Percent of packets lost is between 1 and 2 percent, if I'm reading it correctly. Average response time for host is between 1 and 43. I used yahoo.com.
~Are these good? Anything else I should be looking at?
2. Will I have any technical issues with my set-up? (firewall on Vonage router ect..) How much will Vonage actually reduce the speed sent on to my rotuter?
3. Does the 2500 have a configuration page? (given one doesn't work)
4. Is it best to buy the Linksys wired Vonage adapter from Vonage? All you do is pay shipping?
5. during the phone number switch over, what happens to my regular phone number, if I disconnect, and get a temporary number with Vonage? Do I get charged the fee when I get changed from the temp number to my real number? Or should I just leave my old lanline connected until the switch happens and I know I want to stay with Vonage?
Thank you for the help!!!!!!!!! Very Happy

1. looks fine.
2. while using the phone or off the phone? off the phone, what, billionths of a second? during a call, it varies for people. some people are having issues with dl bw being affected much more than it should, but over all it shouldn't be using more than say, 10-12K/s upload bw on the highest quality setting, and not a whole lot on download.
3. in my searches, yes it does. if it doesn't work for you, try plugging your pc directly into the modem and see if it works then. if not, then try searching here, dslreports.com or google for a better answer. (why do you need it anyway?)
4. technically all you pay is shipping but there is an activation fee which is supposedly being waved until 1/31.
5. don't disconnect your current phone service if you're transferring that number to Vonage. you'll lose it. Vonage gives you a temp number. no you don't get charged when your lnp is complete. the port is free unless you do it after you sign up.

How about you just try Vonage on that new modem and see if it works better now rather then going crazy with ping plotting etc? Smile

I am curious, my friend is on TW and has that old Toshiba PCX1100U with the same Vonage drop out problems. I just told him to change it out, so I was hoping you could report back if your changed modem fixed your problem.

Thanks so much for your response Smile. I had read those, and noticed in them that serveral people got rid of the Toshiba and that fixed their problem. I am hoping my friend (exchanging it today) reports similar success. Sounds like that in some cases local conditions make the toshiba more susceptible to this problem...

So it looks like I'm all set to go? I'm going to go ahead and give Vonage a try. One last question, if I don't like Vonage or have too many problems with it, how long will it take to switch my number back to my current land-line provider? Will Vonage fine me for leaving after only a month or two?
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED ME!!!! Very Happy
