The 1100U was great for me on Cox Cable, both in Tulsa, OK and Bentonville, AR. It worked for over 2 1/2 years with no issues whatsoever. The problem came when I switched over to Comcast when I moved to Texas. The 1100U was nothing but problems... rates that made me feel like I was still on dialup. Within 2 days, the Comcast tech came out, determined it was the modem, changed it out with an RCA model. I kept my old modem. My sister-in-law uses it now on another Cox system and has no problems. I think the 1100U just is a bit more sensitive on some cable systems than others.
If it works for ya, leave it be.
As for the other models you listed ... I haven't looked or heard anything on any of them so I can't give you anything there.

Ok, I had my contact at TWC (who is in broadband support) recommend which modem is best. He said the Toshiba 2500 is about the best he has dealt with on their system so far. He said Scientific Atlanta modem is model 2203, which is a WebStar modem. They look to be about the same age, operate just about the same, but the 2500 is smaller and easier to get, they have more of them available. Can anyone post a review of either modem, or tell me a reason not to get the 2500? Thanks!

OK, Chrisp. Got new Toshiba 2500. Went to your first link. Got scores between 3.6 and 4.4 for call quality. I got pingplotter. But You didn't say which URL to trace? It askes me, and I have no clue. What should I do? Or doesn't it matter? Thanks for your help!

Have no idea what I am looking for or at in ping plotter. "Help", helps a little, but please tell me what it is I want out of the program, and where it is located. Thanks! (I'm running it with pingplotter.com right now)

here's what I did...
From the Edit menu, choose advanced options.
Go to the packet options tab, and change the packet size to 1200.
get back to the main pingplotter screen, and in the address bar type in a public web site (i used
www.yahoo.com
).
I also set the interval (time between pings to 2.5 seconds) and the samples to include to 0 (or ALL).
As you watch the hops, you'll get a feel for how long it takes. I also was looking for a 'packet loss' percentage in any of the hops.. packet loss was my issue with my old modem (spiked to 70% frequently) and now I'm at an occasional 10%.
Let it run for a few hours to get the average settings... Check the PL% (packet loss percentage) for your hops. That was MY issue -- may not be yours.
Of course, if you don't have
Vonage
connected to your system, you really have no idea what you'll actually get once you do connect... you're system could be totally cool and you're running all this needlessly.

Does the 2500 have a configuration page that lets you see the settings of your modem?

reebok, if that number is for me, it doesn't work. How do I access mine?
Chrisp, I'll run the full program tomorrow. How does the score look from the website voice quality tests, I posted?

Running ping test now. Ok, I went out to my local best buy, CC and radioshack. I looked online and it looks like Linksys is the only maker of
Vonage
adapters now. Motorola or any other companies don't make them anymore?
~~Ok, I thought out my set-up after looking at the Linksys (which all cost the same price, no matter where I buy them locally)
I would like to have my set-up like this:
Toshiba 2500 cable modem-> network cable into WAN->Linksys RT31P2 for Vonage->network cable from LAN on Linksys into WAN->on Belkin wireless 54g cable/DSL gateway router.
1.Will this work? Would my speed be reduced to my wireless router, by how much? Would it give my the best sound quality?
2.How bad is the the RT31P2? I have heard some bad stuff about it.
Otherwise I would have to go with PAP2 after the router. Remeber, I would like to shut off the wireless router at night, so the
Vonage
adapter really needs to before it.
3. Is the VT1000 still available new? Is it better then the RT31P2? It looks to have a bulit-in router so it work for me, correct?
Thanks for your help!
