Is Vonage ever going to get their act together with this caller ID problem? Will someone from Vonage address the issue here on this Forum?
This is a constant aggravation . . . I no longer speak highly of Vonage!
Is there a better company to go to? |

I'd like it to go back to the way it was for years. . . showing the persons name and telephone number that was calling. . . now I get unavailable. . . no name . . . sometimes no number. . . some times number. . . all from the same caller.
On the out bound caller ID most of the time it says Vonage Holdings. . . or unavailable and people will not pick up my calls. .. not even my parents. . . who still want to talk to me. . . they won't pick up calls from people they do not know they are very old. They call me because they need help. . . and I call them back and they won't pick up the phone.
I have worked with advance tech support. . . some of them are telling me that yes Vonage can fix this if they wanted to by contacting xo. . but they won't. . . and I can't seem to call xo myself.
I am open to any suggestions.
Then their are my clients that won't pick up my calls. .. and calls that I'd like to know it's my clients calling me . . . it's just a big mess.
Something interesting else that I found out about. . . I am abroad right now. . . and I didn't have a caller id phone here with me. .. so i loaded Vonage talk. . . but still pick up the phone .. . .well the caller id is different again. . |

There are several Caller*ID problems with Vonage:
On inbound calls, they correctly display the calling number (as long as the caller didn't block it) but when they translate that number into a caller name, they're using an out-of-date database, and some of the listings are wrong. When my relatives in Santa Fe, NM call me in NJ, I see their number, but the name is the name of a subscriber who had that number more than six years ago.
On my outbound calls to other Vonage subscribers, my number is delivered in both the number and the name fields in the called party's Caller*ID display. Apparently the out-of-date database used by Vonage to translate numbers to names is not being updated by Vonage.
On my outbound calls to subscribers of other carriers (e.g. RBOC's), my name is correctly displayed when I call from a Vonage number that was ported from Verizon, but it not displayed correctly when I call from a number assigned by Vonage. Apparently Vonage is not sending updates to the database(s) used by these other carriers. |
