I'd like to give Vonage a try before initiating a port of my existing number. How do I do that? I started the signup process on Vonage's website, but it looks like you have to request number transfer as part of the signup. Other folks have mentioned that this is possible, but I can't seem to figure out how. |

Vonage will assign a temporary number to you while the port is in progress. How long it takes to port the number depends on your existing provider. How about calling Vonage and asking if they can delay the number port while you are evaluating their service? |

Yes ... just get a Vonage number. When you are ready to port just go into your account and do a "Change My Number." It will (I thinkl) cost $10 but it can be done.

Make sure you DON'T cancel service with your current phone provider, if you do you will lose that number. The port over process can take up to 10 business days. If you dont like the service and your number is ported over, you can simply call the phone company to get it back when you say you want service back with them. Also vonage works great when set up properly I suggest you give it a try there are very cool features availible |
