I am currently having problems with my wireless network constantly bumping off the net in my kithcen, ever since setting it up. My set-up: Vonage phone service, comcast internet, a linksys cable modem/ wireless in one, a router, and (3) wireless uniden phones in various locations that are about 4-5 yrs. old. It seems that the phones are causing my problems with knocking off my interent connection. What is the best home phone out there for compatibility with voip and wireless network?

You need to get some phones in the 5.8 GHz range. The older phones are around the same frequency as the wireless. That is what is causing the problems.

In researching it seems a DECT phone might work best. Is a DECT compatible with vonage use, I am assuming so. From wikipedia on DECT: Interference-free wireless operation to around 100 metres outdoors. Operates clearly in common congested domestic radio traffic situations. For instance, generally immune to interference from Wi-Fi networks or video senders, Bluetooth technology, baby monitors and other wireless devices.

Any standard phone will work with Vonage.

If you get a DECT phone make sure it is just plain DECT and isn't a DECT IP phone or DECT VOIP phone, etc.

It should not interfere because it works on the 1.9 GHz frequency, but the same is also true if you buy a standard cordless phone on the 5.8Ghz frequency.

Its the 2.4Ghz phones that interfere with wireless connections.

I haven't used a DECT phone myself, so I can't give you a real life example or model for a recommendation.

I use a Motorola 5.8Ghz phone with multiple handsets that I've been very happy with over the years of using Vonage. (MD681 series, although they have not been sold for a number of years)

I use a Motorola MD 761 5.8G series cordless. I/ve used this model phone for the last 3 years and find it excellent. I tried the vTech Dect and found it to be flimsy and did not work as well as my Motorola.

I use a panasonic DECT 6.0 (one base and 2 phones, looking to buy a third one). It works quite well.
