Vonage advertises that professional installation service is available to customers in selected areas. I am considering recommending Vonage to several out-of-town relatives, but some would probably need this service if it's available. Can anybody tell me:
What does it cost?
Who performs the work?
How long does it take to arrange/schedule an installer visit?
Thanks. |

What does it cost? First time install is free
Who performs the work? The work is contracted out to the available installer in your area. I tend to see endeavor alot.
How long does it take to arrange/schedule an installer visit? Depending on the agent that you get when you call in, it should take no more then 10 minutes to sign up for pro install if it is available. The install dates arnt always imediate so call asap if you want the install. |

Very easy to install, I wouldn't pay anyone to install it. Lots of information on this site and the net on how to do install via home wiring. |

I hve been a Vonage customer since 2003. Based upon my experience to date, it is never easy to call Vonage. Okay, I know, it's easy to dial up Vonage, but it usually takes a half-hour to reach anyone, and when you ask a question, it is often mis-understood, and provokes a canned or scripted response that does not quite address the question. That's why I participate in this forum.
I have installed Vonage service here (7 lines) and at several other sites for friends or customers. I know that it is not challenging for anybody who knows how to identify a broadband modem, router, voice adaptor, and the associated cables, and it usually works with minimal troubleshooting.
My question was prompted by a couple of very elderly out-of-town relatives who both claim to be fed up with their local telco, but are barely able to figure out how to plug a standard telephone set into a modular wall-jack.. It appears that Vonage professional installation might help them, and might be less expensive than air fare for me to go and do it for them.
Thanks to all who replied. Your answers are appreciated, even if a few were based upon some wildly invalid assumptions. |

Your last post was very well put. I agree with your assessment of Vonage's customer service. As for you Remag, there is no reason to append a smart as$ comment to the end of your post. Go throw your cack and balls around somewhere else. We are here to help other people, not act like grade school children. |

Vonage uses private contractors, such as Endeavor( note, this is just one of them). You call Vonage and request their professional home installation, and if they have contractors in your area, Vonage will proceded to make the arragements for you. The contractors will come out free of cost to you, Vonage pays the $99 fee to the contractors. They will disconnect your phone line from the outside world, by disconnecting the line at the demarc box(the drop off point where your old landline service dropped the telephone line from the poles to outside your house), thus making your house a closed circuit. They will then proceed to home wire the vonage device into the existing telephone circuitry of the house, by connecting the Vonage device into one of your phone outlets, so all of the outlets that used to work for one telephone number, will do so again. |

If you need brain surgery, you go to a brain surgeon not the shoemaker. My reply/question was not a smart ass comment. I'm sure you didn't notice that DLevenson did not take offense and if he did, did not comment like a TRUE gentleman which you are not. |
