Hi,

I have a DSL modem and a TRENDnet router 633GR. I am not able to make it working if I put the v-portal behind the router. It said "My Vonage device cannot connect to the internet" and below is the status screen information from v-portal. If I connect the v-portal directly to the dsl-modem and it worked fine. Does anyknow what am I missing? If anything i need to do on the TRENDnet router? I have already disabled PPPoe and DHCP server on the v-portal.

Have you tried connecting the ethernet cable to a different ethernet port on the back of your Trendnet router? The ethernet port that you are currently connecting the Trendnet to the V-Portal may be bad. Try connecting to a different ethernet port on the back of your Trendnet router. Also, make sure that the ethernet cable connecting the Trendnet router is connected to the internet port of the V-Portal.

I have the same router and a Vonage is working here fine. I have it set up as

cable modem =TRENDnet router = Vonage = phone

First I would suggest you assign a static IP address to the Vonage device.

Under Application Level Gateway (ALG) Configuration; turn off SIP. This was giving me issues with some aspect of Vonage when it first got it with my previous router.

Under gaming I suggest you set up a rule for Vonage with the static IP you set up earlier. These are the UDP ports I have open

53,69,80,123,5061,10000-20000

entered in just like that. This is all on the Trendnet router of course.

Should work after that. I can't think of anything else off-hand you need to do. Just make sure it's all wired up right.

Hope that helps

The key is this part "WAN IP Address is not assigned!"

Your V-Portal does not have a WAN IP address assigned to it. Is it set to use DHCP? Is your Trendnet router set to assign IP addresses using DHCP?

right, you need to enable the DHCP server on your trendnet router or give your Vonage vportal a static ip. either way should work in theory.

ps make sure you are connecting from port 1 of the trendnet to the WAN or "internet" port (blue color), not the "ethernet (LAN)" port (yellow). v portal cannot connect through the ethernet port.

btw, isn't this a duplicate or 2nd post? please post only once as it is confusing to us who read them.

You guys are GREAT!

In fact, it is user error Lol . I pluged into ethernet port instead of WAN port. And I just swtiched it to WAN port on the v-portal and it worked right away. BTW, do i just leave the ethernet port empty?
if i need to connect to v-portal, i will just need to plug into ethernet port by going 192.168.15.1.

Thanks.

That's correct. Since you have the V-Portal behind a different router, there isn't likely anything you need to do to it though.

With your current setup, there should be no connections with the ethernet (yellow) port of the V-Portal.

If "Remote Config Management" is enabled in your V-Portal settings, you can access the V-Portal's web page from the IP address that your Trendnet router assigned to the V-Portal. Login to the Trendnet router page to determine what IP address is assigned to your V-Portal. Once you know the IP address, dont forget to include ":8080" without the quotes at the end of the IP address to access the V-Portal web interface. For example: http://192.168.1.131:8080

great! I'm glad it worked out for you.

yes, there is no need to use this since you already have a router

or you can enable remote administration and use port 8080 so that from your computer you type 192.168.15.1:8080 and it should get to the web configuration of your portal. then you wouldn't even have to change ethernet wires.

With his current setup and Remote Config Management enabled, he will not be able to login to the device at 192.168.15.1:8080. He will have to login to the device with the IP address his Trendnet router assigned to the V-Portal.
