Hello!!
We are facing an issue with our Tata Indicom Broadband and Vonage VOIP. We are connected to the router via switch and the VOIP device (motorola vt2142-VD) is also connected to the switch. But in this mode, the two dont work parallaly and internet connectivity goes down after some time.
After having days of bad connectivity when we disconnected the voip our connectivity is back in full force.
No engineers at Tata Indicom are able to help us... |

Please post all the technical details listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum. Give exact details for your equipment setup, including model numbers. |

You haven't really given the complete details. However, try plugging the VT2142 directly into one of the LAN ports on the Netgear rather than into the switch. |

Hello Steve,
Please let me know what information I am missing.
We have connected the Voip as per your directive and will get back to you about our findings in a couple of days.
With Regards, |

Hi, Pinging. You haven't given the type of service you have, though I believe that Tata Indicom is DSL. You also haven't provided the results of running the forum VoIP/speed test. If I understand your network setup, you've plugged a switch into the Netgear router and 6 PCs and the Vonage device into the switch. You haven't indicated whether anything is plugged into the other Netgear ports or if anything is plugged into the LAN side of the VT2142. (I hope it's the WAN side of the VT2142 that you're plugging into the switch now, and the router if you try my suggestion.) |

I didnt know I had to give all that information!!!
Yes, we do have Tata Indicom DSL service. And nothing is plugged into the LAN side of Motorola. Two Netgear ports are being used, one connecting to the Motorola and other going to the switch for internet. And only PCs are connected on the switch, no other device.
We connected the netgear and voip together and connected the two to the switch. We started having issues so we disconnected the voip. We still had issues so we switched from Netgear to older router provided by Tata (XAVI X7721r+). Today we will try connecting the Motorola to that and let you know. We will connect the LAN port to the switch. |

Hello!!
Further -
I am using the VOIP and XAVI X7721r+in bridge mode using the DLink DES-1008V switch.
My internet is Tata Indicom Static IPAddress 512 kbps /Unlimited postpaid connection
I carried out the following steps:
Connected the ethernet port of V2142 to switch
Connected the Ethernet port of X7721r+ to switch
Connected all pcs to switch
Powered on the Switch
Powered on Router and made sure all lights are stable
Made sure that the router is acting as a DHCP server
Powered on V2142 and pressed reset
Only the ethernet light is on, the internet light comes on intermittently, but is mostly off. Power light is blinking. On picking up the phone receiver I get message- Your vonage device is not connected to internet. |

Let's back off a bit. What happens if you connect just the VT2142 to the DSL modem and just one computer to the VT2142? Naturally, to check this you'll have to configure the VT2142 for compatibility with the DSL. |
